So I tried to build a mech and it decides to become 4 legged Michael Jackson. Sad part is, it doesn't really want to move forward...

    speaking of creative
maybe try long lines going in a 2x2 squere, letting it spin.
i believe you can make it spin right? well if you can then just use long lines.
i believe i suggested something like a spin rail, not even thinking of this possibility :p
[DOUBLEPOST=1428927132,1428926978][/DOUBLEPOST]or, just place some forward push effect things.
idk what they were called, if using defensive effect it will give a burst forward.
use a small proportion of that and just make it look like he is walking :D

rail-corners(or whatever they are called) rotate what passes over them while docked to their rail. Maybe rotating the legs while also moving them in the circular pattern (as they do now) will do something.

    No
ewwww a combination of what he has and what i said? nice

if i dont need to buy it for the dev build, how do i get the dev build. i didnt get an update.
or is it only for certain people?

    Perhaps you found a nice bug-feature ;)

If pushing docked things don't push the dock,
(ab)use it to move heavier objects than yourself without moving yourself.

The gif shows that it does, the ice on the planet is just too slippery.

That was NOT easy to see.
Maybe my eyes decieved me, but as the "feet" are moving in a circular fashion, and are indeed pushing the vehicle up and down, so in this case, there shouldn't be a big difference regardless. Blocks in SM are also known to be slippery when you are inside a ship(at least for me).

    Awesome.
Maybe this works better on a grander scale when the ground is guaranteed not to be completely even with a long enough step, and the feet are designed with "hooks" that make it grab into any terrain cavities. All servers will hate it though.

anyone thinking of a machine room? although space ships or those factorys wont work with steam engine power :p
look at the gif with your head tilted, you'll get what i mean :D

Personally, I think "steampunk" ships should be an aethetic option for anyone who wants to make one.

personnaly i like the idea of the gass and steam and such, but i also have to admit that it is a bit odd for the space things (if you talk about steam, gass is good thing though) i could even use that system for the trails of thrusters that aren't there

Yeah, this is all a problem of blocks having nearly no friction values.

You can bump and bounce, but gripping with a "foot" just won't happen.

It's not only about steam. Like you said, the visual effect could be used for thruster trails, airlock pressurization simulation, internal pressure valves to give "life" to pipes, fire suppression systems, futuristic shower systems, giving life to vehicle launch "catapults", and more.
