    Vessel Naming Conventions

    Using the vessel classification model forumlated by the Blitzwing Armada, Mercer Corporation names vessels in line with the theme of vessels class.

    Honour Class Frigates – Names of recipients of various Honours e.g Thatcher*, Fraser, Heseltine, Eaton, Cheminant, and Churchill

    Dickens Class Destroyers – Names from Charles Dickens novels e.g. Sikes, Twist, Bronlow, Maylie, Artful Dodger, Stryver*

    Nemesis Class Cruisers – Names based on historical literary nemesis’ e.g. Hook, Moriarty (V-23), Helsing, Capulet, Montague, Macduff and Tamora

    Olympus Class Battlecruiser – Names based on Greek and Roman deities e.g. Artemis (D-49), Arcamedis (D-37), Persephone and Minerva

    Wrath Class Battleship – Names are usually poetic in nature, evoking a sense of anger or hostility e.g. Edge of Fury (C-77), Hell’s fires, Ungodly Rampage

    Populous Class Dreadnought - Names of Capital Cities of Nations (or former) of Earth e.g Canberra, Washington, London, Moscow T-100), Ottawa, Johannesburg, Jerusalem and Belgrade

    (Bold names are vessels currently in service, * vessels underconstuction.)

    Vessels smaller that frigates are named alpha-numerically as battlegroups with thier docking point providing inspiration for the alpha of the groups name - e.g.

    -Nemesis Class Destroyer Moriarty Battlegroup of 4 micro-fighters carry the callsign 'Prof' one through four.

    -Landing craft, and planetary based transport vessels (e.g Starhawk Fleet(SH)) also carry alpha-numeric callsigns, thier role provides inspiration for the Alpha component: (e.g.SH Gunship - Hunter, Predator, SH Medevac - Mercy, Med, SH Standard Transport - Runner, Sprinter, SH Heavy Tansport and Lift - Strong, Able,SH VIP/civillian model - Capital, Monarch.

    All Vessels are designated pennant numbers, including vessels that are commisoned by others (this is provided to the recipeint as a reference if Mercer Corp, maintaince is required, of further vessels of similar or same construct are ordered.) Some vessels are labelled with pennant numbers.
