Mercenaries

    To nutshell:

    Have shops spawn mercenaries when under attack. The 'attacking a shop is a bad idea' warning currently has no merit other than being slightly amusing. Mercenaries should be slightly stronger than pirates, and come in waves per section of a shop broken, each section being a space between a ring.

    More mechanics = More things to do. Mercenaries would come in waves with each section broken off,

    Each section broken off drops a bunch of good shit, you have to attack the shop while defending yourself from mercenaries. Everytime you win a wave and destroy a section, a larger reward is in the next section. It seems complex but its really not. Just a few ships come here and there. Maybe not in waves, but it should definitely be a challenge. Each time you attack a shop it displays a warning, starts with, \"Attacking a shop isn\'t a good idea!\" and then 2 more warnings until the event starts, or at least mercenaries come after you. NOT EVERYTHING HERE HAS TO FIT WITHIN THE MECHANIC. Just putting some more ideas in.

    I think i understand the idea a little better now, the first post was a little less in depth.

    Perhaps there could even be variations in shop types, and thus variation of how difficult to take down a certain shop is. The rewards and ship composition of each squad/wave of mercenaries could even be tweaked per shop type.

    Run a contest to make the best space stations around. Use a handful of small/medium/large designs as the new shops. Some might be complete battlestations. Some won\'t.
