    Original Post:
Greetings fellow pilots ,commanders and shipwrights!

My name is Makaan (original, I know) and I hereby welcome you to my most ambitious hobby!
I love to replicate different kinds of machinery, from small fighters to vast capital ships.

Within this thread, I will post the latest reinventions of the Shipyards for you to gaze upon.
Feel free to use and modify the fabrications of the MRA's , but please credit me for my part of the work.

How it works: I import the ship into a 3d modeling programm, change into a orthographic projection, screenshot the ship while viewing along x- or y-axis. After that I open the screenshot inside a graphic manipulation programm, isolate the ship and resize it into the size i want to build it ingame. Finally I overlay brightly coloured grids with sizes both 2x2 metres and 10x10 metres. The "Blueprint" is now ready to be worked into a working ship!

Now that this is out of the way, enjoy!

Do you plan to try to keep recreations to the approximate scale of the target if known (1:1, in other words, if a ship is known to be 1km long, the recreation would also be 1 km long) or do you plan to scale up as necessary to capture detail? I tend to scale up when I recreate something.

Some larger builds, if you decide to recreate them, will need to be scaled down as dictated by the game's limits. For example, some people (who probably have really great computers) have found that their builds can get out to 4 or 5 km (4000-5000 blocks in length) before the game starts malfunctioning. So if you were to recreate something longer than 1km, you probably need to plan to scale it down to "fit" in the game.

Fun tip: check out the reddit subreddit ImaginaryStarships Various artists post their painted designs there. Even if you can't recreate them, they might give you ideas for hidden areas of ships you do want to recreate. There is a whole thread where the community discussed sources of ship ideas and inspirations.

    Hey everybody!

I'm uploading some blueprints as of now, i needed to recreate some things and added a few others, so stay tunded!

jayman38 I TRIED to keep them 1:1 scale at first, and have some of them in another folder lying around, but for the sake of getting larger fleets and higher output rate of the replicas i scaled them down. The fighters and corvettes wouldn't really work for anything smaller than 1:2,5 scale, so i recreated those two classes and frigates in 1:2,5 scale (meaning what on the target ship would be 2,5 metres is aproximately 1 metre in the replica).

Super Capitals were a completely other thing, as even the smaller ones would take the processing power of a whole fleet.
For example the Vaygr Carrier I STILL am working on. The original Dimesions are:

    Lenght: 960 Metres
    Height: 334 Metres
    Width: 175 Metres

This would be disproportionate for various reasons. First, it wouldn't be likely that i could finish a build with my limited expertise, and even if i could, it would take many months to do so. Second, I don't think that this could be used on most servers, as it would at least have 15 million blocks. So in which scale would it still be useful AND doesn't look that much out of proportion with the other ships. 1:2,5 Scale would, in my opinion, be way too large and would sit around 2-3 million blocks. I tried 1:5, but this would leave me unable to fit frigate sized ships into, and look too much out of proportion. so i did some math to get the frigates to fit and this would leave me with the current scale, 1:4. The Hull is already fully finished, leaving only the interior to be done, but i think it won't go over 100.000 blocks.

In other universes, i will probably work with the same scheme, as it is my wish that these ships I recreate can be used on most servers without causing too much lag :)

Thanks for the Reddit link, as itis truly awesome to get new ideas :)
