So I've been playing starmade for about a week, and for my first real project i wanted to try tackling a ship with cloaking and thought the BoP was a cool idea. Now just to say it early on, all my knowledge on startrek ships is limited to whatever research I did for this project so if theres any inaccuracies or misussed terminology you'd like to point out I encourage you to do so, but do so informatively and not arrogantly. So For the dimensions I stumbled across the klingon size paradox which was pretty much no help whatsoever... so i eenie-meenie-minee-moe'd it and selected the DS9 tech manuals size for the B'rel class 23/24th century variety. 157.76 length, 181.beam, 98.54 beam. Sounds good! Wrong, much to big for cloaking, so i scaled it down to an 88m long variety.
Introduction aside i made this post for 3 reasons: A. Hi guys, im new to starmade. B. Any startrek enthusiasts out there have any recommendations on making it visually more realistic and C. Do you more experianced Starmakers have any construction advice?
And here's where we are so far
I'm not terribly happy with the shade of green, but its the closest I can find and its an approximate match for some of the more "cartoony" pictures I've seen. I chose to build the ship in "cruise" mode rather than "attack" mode (wings perpendicular to body VS downswepted) In order to ease construction on my inexperianced self. I'm done the wings and bow section but still have the midship and aft to do and already I'm approaching my energy limitations. realising this, if anyone recognizes ANY way i can increase efficiency please let me know since if a major redesign is required I'd rather do it now versus later. I may need to scale down again to a 55m variety if i want to include stealth (and im willing to sacrifice most aspects of the ship as stealth is my primary focus).
