I mean, why not add the ability to connect in groups? For example, you selected a computer. You have to connect 500 cannon modules (because you pasted the cannon modules from a template). So, instead of connecting it one by one, add the ability in advanced building mode to do that?

Yeah, Shift + V will auto-link all touching blocks of the same type.

Thread-tools should have the option, if not, you can't.
