My server seems to be experiencing an interesting issue.
When a sector is locked (players can't leave), the Jump Drive seems to be able to bypass that in a way. The player and ship will jump past the locked sector, and appear to be fully outside of it to the player. But anyone staying behind still sees the player and their ship where the ship was before the jump.
When an admin destroys the ship left behind, it also destroys the ship the player is in, where they jumped to.
Seems like there is a communications error between something, allowing the player to be in two places at once.
