just spent the last few hours trying to figure why starmade was crashing the whole pc, my brother is running the same version (copy paste) as I am, which got me thinking of why he is running fine.
and i found the difference, i'm running the latest java, update 65. and he's running 60.
found this nugget of fun as soon as i googled java update 65 crashing windows.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...ash-after-upgrade-to-runtime-1-7u65-update-65
to summarise, they've noted serious compatibility problems with no apparent reason, breaking a large amount of java applications...
may be a good idea to warn everyone to stay on 64.
is anyone actually running update 65 successfully?
*EDIT* also tried the jre for java 8 (update 11)
same result, game crashes, and windows basically dies.
forgot to add, by "die" i mean, it becomes incredibly sluggish, to the point that the system is useless, you can wait the 1-2 hours for windows to shutdown... or just kill the power.
(this machine takes upto 5 minutes to shutdown usually, averaging about one minute).
