In space there is no sound because there is no matter to transfer "sound" through. Because of this, you would only hear sound when touching an object meaning to make the game more realistic you should only hear sound from on object when touching it. Of course when on a planet with atmosphere you can hear just as one can hear on earth. This update would probably come in to play after the requirement for air is introduced in the game so the physics of it can be put in to play for real instead of them just being code saying that "you can only hear sound from an entity when in contact or on a planet with that entity". It may be overly complicated but maybe you could dumb it down a little for preformance sake.

Currently, just check if you are inside a collision box or planet gravity?

This is the suggestion forum, no? Just because people post something doesnt mean it will make it in game. Hell Id be surprised if even .01% of ideas posted here make it in. Let people post their crap and move along. Why are you even browsing this forum if you are getting annoyed by the number of suggestions?

In practice, this would mean you can hear your own weapons, engines, etc., but not anyone else\'s until their weapons-fire hit you, right? I sure hope that\'s where you\'re trying to go with that.

I\'d sure love to have Firefly-esque gameplay.
