To anyone hoping to find a review in server comments here is mine:
**Overzealous admins
**Unstable servers
**Impossible to make income
**Unfriendly playerbase
Here is my experience through out 2-3 days I tried this server:
After joining I immediately had all my parts stolen. No admin or player cared as I got laughed at by locals..
(shrugging it off no big deal... Take two)
This forced me to do a little thieving of my own.. I scavenged for ships on planets and asteroids until i had enough to hunt npcs... Then the server was simply dying.. Would crash literally every 5 minutes.
(crap happens I understand, so I kept trying hoping it will soon be fixed)
I tried building two massive ships only to lose them to server faults.. Again, asking for any help was met with ridicule from locals. (im not one to throw in a towel as new day and a fresh new beginning i kept on)
After losing 2 massive ships to server crashes, I tried something smaller...
I saw another player chaining his to a station. Out of frustration and unwillingness to simply hand thieves more stuff I tried the same only to lose it to crash once again (later finding out such practice was against the rules and was erased by admin) Once more, clueless I thought it was server messing up.. So I tried a hand in a small cloaker.. I was getting shot through out the time i was building it.. So when it was complete I flew around shooting at the guy who was shooting me earlier (again something I did not know as against rules) By then, I stopped paying attention to chat entirely so I missed any warning from the devs. Once more game crash with ship gone. And once again I assume it was crappy server...
After two days of work and failure, poor experience with some locals I still wanted to try and not give up on this...
I decided to throw everything I had collected into one massive ship... Ive built a cube.. A mix of around 25k of shields, 25k weapons, 25k thrusters 25k power, salvagers and encased in a black hull..
I did test my weapon power levels into empty space as i was building it not knowing about the safezone shoot rule..
Throughout the day people were shooting all around at me and at eachother.. So I did not bother to think much about it.. The ship was finally complete after two hours and I chased a player who was shooting at me... Left the safe zone sector and came across a giant ship. (my screen showed 3,1,1 as I was actually trying to find way back to shop since the server was lagging) I decided to test my weapons and luck on the ship I encountered. Next thing I know I get the usual lagspike as I froze and was unable to move..
My name caught my eye in chat as an admin informed me that It was against the rules.. I was about to apologize and move on but was informed me that i was breaking the rule and that he is confiscating what Ive just built.. After I explained it was a mistake and asked for my ship back the admin said he will forgive and return the ship if I read the rules.. (something I would gladly do, but even looking for them specifically on the forum was no luck. I had to google it) I came back with knowledge of laws of the land to receive only a 5th of what was taken. When I asked for the rest, other admins just laughed and said I was lucky to get any scrap at all...
Overall, I was hoping for a good multiplayer server to settle in. Start my own faction.. Meet other players.. Learn more about the game.. Invite friends and family...
But Coming across mostly rude playerbase, that offers no help or any sportsmanship, laggy servers that take all the work in a single crash, no way to make money (the one and only shop is always full on items so there is no way to sell) overzealous admins is the last straw.
I understand Im at fault since I did not know the rules (shooting in safezone/chaining ship) But people are not machines and make mistakes unwillingly.. I was not there to grief or to be malicious. People were doing that sort of thing there all day. I was the one singled out... Thats fine too.. But ridicule from other admins is too much... How dare I apologize and request my stuff back, right? Any one who is an admin needs to understand that and be more human. We have plenty of bad cops in real life. For some, gaming is an escape..
**If you are a starting player looking for a server to call your home, look elsewhere.
All it offers is high player count little else..
