ideas for power grid layout

I love coming up with ideas concerning the use of power grid blocks. One thing that I have been doing is adding a 2 block pattern, such as shields and power grid blocks. My question is can anyone come up with a better pattern or style of blocks, regarding shield or any kind of tank?

My concept is based on power and shield tanking. So I am using 3 different patterns of blocks and coming up with crochet like patterns. Thank you.

I simply build long lines and put shields and other stuff inbetween

build a line down the longest point of your ship than so the same with the tallest point and the widest point so that all 3 lines intersect. best way to get large amount of power in a small amount of space.
