Huge ammounts of lag

When connecing to a server, it'll say that I have a huge ammount of server lag (usualy about 137billion seconds) and won't vanish, but just close then open and then close again. I've tried adjusting resolution, view, and other things, but nothing works. Help?

It seems as if thouhj people importing ships is causing severe issues on servers. The game throwns errors all over and lags into oblivion every time someone does this.
