the lasers are way to small, is there a way to change the texture of the laser to get it bigger somewhere in the files? or a shader pack that does it

Currently we do it by using multiple outputs to give the apperance of a single large beam.

unfortunately no. So far no mod i've seen increases the size of damage beams but if there was i'd download it in a heartbeat

They should be the same as cannons, the more damage they do the bigger the projectile gets.

Yeah, right now if you want bigger beams, you gotta checkerboard your array.

When doing this you can also have one powerful beam with lots of 1-2 block beams around it since multiple beam groups have a horriffic power cost

it doesnt matter how big the other (only for visual) groups are unfortunatly :( cost is calculated only based on number of groups. So it doesnt matter if you make 24 small and 1 big beam or 25 medium ones. actually, you'll have a better dmg spread with 25 medium one imo.

Edit: You could give each beam its own computer and trigger them all together via an inner ship remote p.e. That way, your power cost modifier is 1.0. This has a different downside though, cause you have to aim by moving the entire ship. so its only a solution for smaller / manouverable ships.

Some of us like to use it for our big dramatic titan death rays which shouldn't really be aiming 45 degrees away from the main ship anyway :)

Does firing a wepon produce a logic signal?? If it does you could have the main beam on your hotbar and the rest set to trigger via logic when you fire the main one

if it did, the result wouldnt be satisfying for what you're trying to do. you could still aim your weapon, while the logic triggered outputs would just fire based on your ship's position. So your beams wouldnt all fire in the same direction and not look like one big beam anymore.
