Not how to build a stop effect weapon, but mechanically?

Is it "Weapon Damage >= Thrust, Ship Stops"? Something else?

As far as i know that's what it's supposed to be, but it's currently power spent >= thrust, same for other momentum effects :/

Back when I experimented with push/pull and stop as weapon effects, I found that when an object wasn't using thrusters (eg. inert) only push or pull would affect the object. Stop didn't actually stop the target object. From this I have assumed that stop cancels thrust effects but doesn't change the movement of something from momentum. But push/pull affects the momentum of the target hit. So for a tug push and pull weapons are useful and stop a waste of time.

However this was a while back and it might have changed since then.

Pretty much the same, except these properties make stop work through defensive explosive effect (stop is not considered a momentum effect by explosive). And canceling thrust is generally more useful than applying momentum for the sake of helping your turrets land hits & hopefully landing hits yourself etc.

Reason why stop is generally more popular right now

All momentum effects work better with more ticks. So a c/c/stop is the most efficient stop weapon. Adding outputs also helps.
