Hiring crew doesn't work at ALL for me.

I can't get crew members onto my ship. They almost never want to stay put.

When I hire a crew member, I make it follow me to my ship, then I command it to "go to" my ship which supposedly means its not supposed to fly away. Well, I never seem to be able to get the crew member to actually get bound to my ship, and the one time I thought managed to, 5 seconds later that crew member is 3000 meters away floating in space.

The crew AI is currently horribly broken.
It is better not to mess with it until it gets an update.

With much sweat and tears I managed to get one to a nearby planet.
And that was after I lost it for a couple of hours just to see he has walked all the way in the right direction (lucky!).
There is not really a decent way to get them to stay on board.

So unless you are prepared to spacewalk them to their destination, just don't bother.
