Seems kinda obvious to me that you should be able to set different messages on different sides of the display block. At least other than the top and bottom.
It did also occur to me to have the display block able to be turned on and off. Then we could have it slave to another block so that rather than being off when in standby mode it displays a hologram of the slaved block. This would make hidden displays possible.
You could make some pretty cool hidden bases with signs that only displayu when you approach them and then revert to looking like a rock
