Help with Pregenerated Shops

So I'm just trying to get to know how the shops work. I am playing in single player to get the feel for the game, but the starter shop will not restock/get visited by trader ships. I have been by my station mining for two hours and away for close to 3. Is the restocking mechanism broken or suspended? Can I become an Admin in my single player game to restock it manually?

That may be the case.

In singleplayer, unless you manually edited the admins.txt, EVERYONE is admin.

Aha, when I tried the admin command, I was selecting the Trader at the starter shop, not the shop itself. So my shop is now restocked manually, and I can continue exploring the game. Thank you very much.
