Help, server won't work

My friend created a server for him and myself to play on using Hamachi, however I am unable to connect to his server, although he can connect himself. I am able to connect to other people's public severs but the connection always fails when connecting to his. We have tried using the 4242 port and his own port, neither work. He is able to set up the dedicated server and connect to it with himself listed on the serverlist, but not me.

did you do the specil format? [public ip address]:4242 you do need to use the 4242 port for sure.

i have been having the same problem with myself and a friend as well. I can connect just fine but he is jsut stuck at \"connecting\" than it times out

yep same ... and just for gd measure i tested freelancer and minecraft on port 4242 and it worked fine so i donno why starmade server just wont allow anyone to join

and yeah clearly java and javaw is able to see thru port 4242 as minecraft works

so whats the deal

all i want is me and my 2 friends to have some fun
