Hey guys. I love the game, really, I own one of the largest servers. However, I had an idea, and it wouldn't fit everyone so I propose my ideas be put into a sort of "hardmode" difficulty. Because well, it would be more difficult. If implemented, it would be an option for single players or servers.
Ok, onto the ideas.
1. Shields. The current shield system is incredibly easy - Put down a few blocks next to each other, and BOOM. Shield. I think it should take on a "bubble" effect. Meaning that one side of the block must be on the outside, and from that side a bubble like shield would be projected around a certain radius. It would have a small 4 or 9 pixel area in the middle of the block that isn't shielded. Shields would never fully dissapear, and allow 90% of damage to go through at it's weakest state. They would also overlap. This means if you strategize, placing several shields for important areas, then primary shields to block the ones projecting them, someone would have to go through two layers of shields. Requiring strategizing.
2. Weaponry. Currently, there are four factors. Damage, reload, speed, and range. I don't mean just the percentages configuration, but those are what factor into how well your antimatter cannons do. In my mode, there would also be strength, knockback, penetration, and bullet size. I'd suggest a bunch of different weapons, but there's other threads for that so I'll make it short. A railgun of sorts, which would start out with a high penetration, strength, and size, but very low speed/reload.
--General suggestions that may not make the game a "hardmode"--
3.Hulls. This is a big thing to me. Hull is basically useless. As long as you do 75 damage, anyone without a shield is easy picking. And even then, you need like seven shield blocks to stand a chance. Even reinforced isn't that great. I think there should be another type of hull, named "antimatter hull." It would actually stand quite a few hits, but not be indestructable. It would not be something you can buy in a shop, and be extremely hard to make. This means it'd be a better use to make sheets of it to cover your important areas than make a ship out of.
More to come.
