Halp! My ship is too strong!

    No, seriously. I managed to make a ship that quite literally cannot be defeated by anything of equal size or smaller, including itself. It's a medium sized fighter that somehow has 13k shield capacity and deals roughly 4k DPS while being hard to hit AND extremely maneuverable. It's called the Ogre because it's supposed to be ugly and vicious, two things it excells at.

    When Pirates use it, the only hope I have of killing it is to lure it into a nest of point defense turrets.
    When I use it, the only hope the Pirates have of killing me is to lure me into another Ogre.

    I have rammed 10x10x10 cubes of Disintegrators into it with no effect. I've rammed multiple Disintegrator missiles into it at once with no effect. I've hit it with 40+ 200+ damage missiles at the same time with no effect. The only thing I can think of that actually kills it is its pilot (and capital ships, but we don't talk about those when we're designing fighters ;D)


    Anybody else have a (very) bad experience trying to kill their own designs? :D

    antimatter cannons are better for taking down shields. try that.

    Well, I\'ve made a small frigate that has su much shields that it cannot even take down itself in 1v1 combat.

    Oh god, that\'s gotta be awful. Two frigates just sitting there shooting eachother for days.

    Well on my current server, my ship is actually so tough that it regenerates it\'s shield faster than anything can take it down. I\'ve flown through nests of pirates which would eat my last ship for breakfast, yet they can\'t even scratch this ship.

    I get the feeling it\'s probably a lot bigger than your fighter. It weighs in at something like 110k blocks and has a shield capacity of 56k, with a powercore of nearly 800k and a power regen of 280k. It\'s got two forward firing BB missiles (each capable of putting a sizable hole in a station) and a retardedly fast-firing high-damage antimatter cannon. It has sixteen turrets that fire four cannons for nearly 200 damage total. It\'s triple-hulled with a 10x10x10 cube of hardened hull protecting the core and it\'s only downside is that it\'s REALLY slow.

    That said, it falls short in comparison to some of the ships that\'ve been built on that server. But yeah, it does seem fairly easy to build high-powered ships. Perhaps certain parts (shields, for example) should be toned down a little, or made a bit rarer.

    EDIT: Oh, it\'s named Das Uber Waffenschnitzel, if it wasn\'t awesome enough already. It still pales in comparison to the likes of the Nexus though.

    and not enough on weaponry, if your ship can\'t destoy itself.

    Nope, it can destroy itself just fine - when I\'m not the pilot.

    It\'s retardedly good for the AI and not so much for the players, because of its flat shape.

    Sounds pretty similar to my own fighter, it has a thrust to mass ratio of 5, 30k shields and also deals 4kdps. It is only a shame that fighters are still useless...
