Some lights appear to be a little to bright, some to dull, and with bloom on, looking at a white ship is like looking into the center of a star.
Not to mention, when you are building a ship and you enclose a very large area, there isn't enough lights in the game that can help you build the internal parts of your ship. There needs to be a way for you to see every single block in your ship as if there is light everywhere.
Ever played minecraft and used the night vision potion? Basically like having that for ship and build block building modes but it only works on your ship, not in dark areas like in a cave. Unless your build block was attached to the planet and you entered build mode on the planet. But anything not connected to the thing you're building would retain it's natural light, to prevent some sort of abuse or something.
