For some reason whenever I use the selection tool to remove specific blocks and have a medium sized section to remove (50x50x20) my game crashes and starmade goes into 'not responding mode.' My specs should be good, with a 6700k @4.3GHz, gtx 970 and 16gb of RAM. I have no idea why this keeps happening.

Have you set the RAM values to an appropriate amount?

Using the remove/replace filter on a block area that size? That's 50,000 blocks it has to check if it's the right block that you've selected and then delete. Allocate more ram, or wait anywhere between 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

It is probably your ram amounts. Allocate 8192 MB as max and you should be all set. I use block areas in the 500x500x500 range with no problems.
