    Hi Everyone,

Not sure if anybody else has tried this, but using a core anchor for shipyards I successfully docked an entity to an asteroid using a simple little trick. :)

I made a video demonstrating it.

Anyone else had a try at this? I can finally build an asteroid with a docking port and mechanical systems. Not to mention, sneaky heavily armed asteroids. You can even make the ships you dock look like the asteroid. :)

I wouldn't have thought of this, nice heads-up! You could hide turrets in the center of an asteroid with tiny holes to shoot out of, having the tips of the cannons covered in rock that blends in.

Lol! Exactly what I had in mind. Oh so sneaky. :)

Yeah, sadly you are right. :-(
I knew that the moment I shared this with the community, it would create a instability balance in the force. Fear you have not... but soon you will have.... hmmmm.

I'd say the devs didn't intend the Cord Anchor to be used outside of a shipyard so sooner or later they'll fix that. Does make a nice way to grab asteroids and take them back to base though.

Sadly, I found you can't dock in reverse.
However, if the player unticks the docked entities in navigation, anything docked to the asteroid is invisible to sensors. :)
I checked my experimental cannon mounted on that asteroid in the video and the HUD displays nothing. Only the asteroid, if you even have that ticked. Which I don't.

Normally when I'm looking for asteroids if there is something odd about it like stats it should have I'll send a drone ahead of me to check. If it dies than I just pepper the area of the sector with a wall of nukes. XD

    Nice! :)
I know it's a waste, but I do like shredding asteroids with my custom built missiles made of explosive blocks.

The bible says core anchors and shipyards not core anchors and asteroids

Can a docked entity push an asteroid with push/pull beams?

Once an entity is docked, I'm not sure. I haven't had much luck in that respect.
However, you can just push asteroids. I've done it many times to position them where I want.

I think push and pull beams should work from docked entities on 'roids. It works on ships, and asteroids are pretty-much asteroid-factioned ships with restrictions for building some stuff.
