Do the original docking blocks still work?

I thought the rail docking blocks were in addition to the existing docking modules, but I can't seem to dock by targeting a docking module with a ship core. I've tried it on existing ships, and made a quick test platform to try it on.

They do , but not in the way any of us (or some of us, or maybe just you and I) expected.
It's all or nothing.
So you can use ships with the old and you can use ships with the new, but you can't use a ship with both.
It's going to be deprecated so this is just to give everyone time to rework their ships and turrets.
