Well, I was a serverside startup faction. Me and the *whopping* four faction members decided we needed a logo. So, I made a logo similar to this out of ice crystal. The pattern was virtually random, but we liked it. The first ship to bear this emblem was the USS Dalton, as our faction used to be called the United Federation. Eventually, the first ship to see active service in the DFN, the Defiant class light cruiser, was commissioned. After establishing the DFN, I decided to keep the emblem, and it is what we now use.

When I use an emblem, I tend to use a starburst design(single dot surrounded by eight outward lines) because it represents the supernova, which is f***ing badarse.

Mine was just the first simple thing that came to mind... A plus with four squares in the corners of the box dimension.
