For everybody that have this problem please follow my steps.
1. update your java.
2. check if it works, if its works your good to go if it doesn't work please follow along.
3.start your starmade launcher.
4.click in the top lefthand corner on the options button
5.then click on memorysettings.
6.if you have 32bit, put your maximal memory to 1024, and if you have 64 bit you can try some more put keep in mind you can't give the game memory you don't have.
7.I set my initial memory to the same as my max put if you want you can put it lower as your maximal, but never put more memory in your initial than in your maximal.
8.then click ok and start your game.
9. enjoy the game and buy it because it's sooo awesome!
hopefully this works for you, for me it works perfectly and when i upgrade my system to 64bit I can throw 8GB to it and enjoy the game even more
