I see a lot of catalogue ideas being thrown around, and in each one there are positives and negatives.
So instead of picking one and making everyone else unhappy; why not combine them and let the server choose?
So the options would be:
Catalogue: Blocks (To require blocks instead of credits), Credits (The current system)
Max Uploads: How many blueprints each player can upload. (Put 0 to disable the catalogue entirely)
Catalogue Price Multiplier: How much more expensive the ship will cost in order to purchase it from the catalogue. (Default is 100%). No effect if set on block setting.
Size Limit: Either in Blocks/Mass or Price. So I can't bring my 1,000,000,000 block ship made entirely of $1 dirt blocks to crash servers.
Is there anything else I'm missing?
