can't break blocks, i shoot a laser instead...

i searched for any mention of this and found none. starting the game fresh i put one of the laser pistols in my inv thinking i might need it. later i took it out, but when outside a ship and i right-click on a block, i shoot a laser instead of picking it. is there a setting i can change or a way to reset this?

Have you got your pistol selected in the hotbar? If not, that's the fabricator. It works like a mini salvage beam.

The new 'laser' you are talking about, is like a miniature salvage beam. It's a replacement for the old 'poof-block-is gone' method of removing in astronaut mode. It makes removing blocks a bit more immersive and logical.
