This is incredibly irritating and what makes it even more irritating is that I dont seem to see that anyone else here gets the same bug. I cannot connect to any multiplayer servers. That is a slight lie as there was one random server that I managed to get on within the whole list but with all the others it will allow me to log in, find my credentials etc, and then just hang on:

    "checking server block config"

It will sit there forever from this point and never progress. Whats gutted me about this is that I could previously play on the thunderdome server but now they have upgraded to that SMProhosting I cannot connect to it therefore everything on there that was mine is wasted.

please dont anyone say reinstall the game (done) restart the login (done endless times) try a different server (getting sick of seeing that same damned error message and i just want to play on the thunderdome anyway) or portforward (done as well, see below)

After further testing it appears I can get on servers that DO NOT USE port 4242, I dont understand this as I have portforwarded that port in order to run a little test server with a friend that worked perfectly.

to me it now looks like SMProhosting servers all connect through 4242 and any servers that are like that I cannot connect.

TLDR: Trying to connect to any server through port 4242 (all of the SMProhosting servers) results in the game hanging at "checking server block config"

    please help.

OK, kind of solved my own problem here....

starting from the beginning in case its of use to anyone. I created a small server for me and a friend to play on and he couldnt connect. After a bit if searching i found that portforwarding the port 4242 would probably help. It did and fun times were had by all.

fast forward a few days, I want to play on bigger servers with other people, I find that I cannot connect to any server that uses port 4242 as above but can connect to others.

as a random thought I removed the already existing port forward service on that port and now I can connect to any of the big servers.

so basically any time I want to play mutilplayer on a small private server of my own with a few people I have to add the port forward rule but when I want to play online on for eg the thunderdome I need to remove the rule.

This is rather strange and probably has a simple answer to why that will make me feel stupid but solved for me anyway :D

It sounds like the portforwarding was done wrong, but i wouldn\'t know. I use bridged mode on router anyway, so i can host any server on my computer without ever needing to port-forward.
