Maybe we could have a "building bay" on ships (max, 1 or 2?) that allows AI to build AI controlled ships with controllable blueprints (I'm mainly suggesting dis-integrator missiles or drones), and that AI cannot build another ship as long as the original ship it built is in a certain range or is not destroyed.

If that AI ship is destroyed, then the building bay would build another one (the bigger the build bay blueprint is, the more power consuming it is to build one, and the longer it takes to build it). The blueprint will have no shields until it has finished, so it will be extremely vulnerable to attacks from other ships.

It would make Carriers more useful if they could replace losses,

perhaps it would be something like a Docking bay, that had Plexi storage attached to them, you would have to put in the parts and build the design through it, and it would then copy your design every time you clicked on it, taking as long as you did to build the ship block by block, at least untill it ran out of parts, (you could maybe attach Factory outputs to it so that it keeps getting replacement parts, and Expander blocks to give it a larger build space, or Accelator blocks to help it work through the program faster.

Smart idea, could make blueprints items, just like recipes are. Then you can do all kinds of fancy stuff with them, like putting them in those building bays you\'re talking about, or putting them in a (future) shipyard block meant for stations, that would build it faster.
