I recently looted some pirate ships and found an item called "Block Storage Item"....is this supposed to be in the game? Can I make them? Can I really take the blocks out of them?

AFAIK yes, no, and "why don't you try" but make sure you have enough free cargo capacity.

if you logout over-limit, servers shove it all into that item
