Authentication issue?

So I have been playing in a server that requires uplink, and I have no problem signing in, but after a server or client crash I can no longer sign in with that in-game name. If I change my name I can sign in but I lose everything.

This is the error message I get:

Server Reject: this login name is protected on this server!

You either aren't logged in via uplink or the protected name belongs to another user!

Please use the "Uplink" menu to authenticate this name!

This has happened twice now: once was a client crash, the other was a server crash.

I'm fairly certain I am correctly signed in to uplink, otherwise the server would reject me (tried to join without signing in, would not let me)
