So, I was playing on the Resentment Industries server, when a user said there was a ship causing major lag in a certain sector. I went there to fix/destroy the problem and then I noticed something, the ship was an Aesir Odin that someone had scuttled on a planet. I lagged, my normal fps and ping are both about 60 (fixed frame rates) and my fps dropped to one and my ping skyrocketed to 10000. I destroyed the ship without batting an eye or with concern to who bought it.
So I say to you guys in big, all caps letters DO NOT PARK YOUR F***ING BIG SHIPS ON PLANETS!!!! the reason I say this is because they cause extreme amounts of lag and can crash smaller servers, it also causes people to no longer want to be on that server if they can't even move.
Where should you park instead? In space obviously. There, you can cause minimal lag and have no worries about your ship causing a lag storm. Make a station dock, make a hangar, send a shuttle to the planet, whatever floats your boat. You can park small ships on planets, because they hardly lag at all no matter what you are doing.
