Right now we have to do a lot of clicking or scrolling to turn a block. It's time consuming, and you don't exactly know which way you are turning it.

What I suggest is, combine mouse clicking and scrolling. To place blocks you either left click to place one, or ctrl left click to use adv build mode. This method works for both situation.

First you click just like you would do normally, but don't release it yet. Drag to the direction you want the block to face, then you can scroll the wheel to rotate the block.

Use the corner block as an example. First you click and hold your mouse button, then let's say drag it towards you. The pointy side of the block will now be facing you, then you can scroll the wheel to rotate it. Scrool down for clockwise and up for anti clockwise.

If you hold down the left Control key while playing a block, you will access the advanced controls -- this includes the rotation controls :) You can then use the scrollwheel on your mouse to quickly cycle through all of the positions for the block you currently have selected, with a preview in the Orientation window in the top right corner. (Note: the preview window displays the block from your character\'s perspective, so changing the direction/angle of your camera\'s point of view will alter the preview as well) Alternately, you can click the arrows to the left and right sides of the preview to manually cycle through them.

Period changes block orientation also I believe; don\'t know whether it works without holding ctrl or not.
