    • 2024px skybox gives me 1-4 fps.
    • 1024px skybox gives me about 5-9 fps.
    • 512px (or no) skybox gives me about 14 fps.

    I have:

    • 4 GB DDR3 ram (should be enough :)
    • dual-core AMD AthlonII X2 270 Processor
    • AMD/ATI RV740PRO [Radeon HD 4770] Graphic card with 512 MB ram
    • OpenGL renderer: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV740
    • Manjaro Linux (An arch Linux deriviat)
    • 1920x1080px resolution

I also have to keep shield_tex.png at 256px or 128px to get decent fps and the texture pack images at/below 1024/2048px.

Has anybody a quick solution? Is there a way to figure out what is causing the most problems, without trying every png-file at half resolution and compare FPS?

Are you using Linux too and ok with high-res textures? What system do you have?

I usually run the game at 60+ fps with max settings unless there are a few massive ships nearby and it\'ll drop to around 30-45 fps.

I know that my GPU is weak, but it was not a low-end.

The CPU? Dunno it already has DDR3 support. And it runs well enough with spring (springrts.com)
