    IP: vg.sickfriend.net:4242

    Description:

The "official" 4chan Starmade server. Hardcore economy, open PVP. Visit the current general on /vg/. http://boards.4chan.org/vg/res/48762245

    Admins:

    Travellerbro
    BDLS
    Comr4de
    Sickfriend
    Rules:

    • Report any issues or imbalances with the economy in the thread.
No using buildblocks to mine planets (currently they are disabled).
No using exploits to gain blocks or credits. You will be banned if caught.
No making ugly borg cube ships - everything should be decently aesthetic

The server uses a hardcore economy mod. You will be largely dependent on industry for blocks. Recipes have been added for all the major ship blocks. You will need to mine for your minerals.

The server is free, open PVP. You will lose half your credits on death, and drop your entire inventory. Piracy is a viable means of survival. Shops are few and far between. There are no blueprint uploads. Money will be hard to come by.

    Good luck.

I checkd for a short time on the server and all you really did was make the server a bit more difficult than the standard. Recipes are REALLY cheap meaning that they can be easily exploited as there is close to no cost to produce anything.

A short while ago I also wanted to make a challenging starmade but lacked the experience(Here is what I made: http://star-made.org/content/starmade-ultra-hardcore) Also, maybe you try to find some way to disable cubatoms for some objects(else you can get rich quickly using them)

Our logic is that the recipes themselves can be cheap but the resources to produce said recipes are a much bigger pain to acquire. They also level up much slower than normal recipes.

As for cubatoms, we are aware of that issue. It\'s that exact reason that led to the buildblock being disabled.

If besides for the minerals(which I assume are level 1), you only need one of each component, than getting objects seems quite easy...

Also, I know that there is a way to disable cubatoms for certain blocks, but idk how...I only know that you can force the game to have a \"recipe not found\" message at blocks you want. And disabling build blocks won\'t solve the cubatom problem...it will only slow it down a bit

Have you attempted manufacturing? I\'m sorry but these sound like baseless accusations coming for mere postulation and theorization. I\'d appreciate it if you could tangle with the factory system and tell me how manufacturing works for you. I\'d also like to point out that processing l5-l2 minerals only yields 10 of the next level mineral.

I also don\'t think you understand why buildblocks were disabled; buildblocks can and have been used in the past to stripe mine planets in a single click. We tried jacking the price up to 40 million and that didn\'t work because it was still possible to fabricate them with cubatoms. THAT is why we disabled buildblocks. We honestly haven\'t had too much trouble with cubatoms otherwise.

Taking a look at your recipes from BDLS\' link, I really like what you have going there. I might decide to hop on and start something up when I have the time!

If Anthuresta doesn\'t go public in the next 24 hours I probably will go on your serber. But I have to agree with you that my accusations come from theory, not from testing(I only hoped on a bit earlier to see how the shop economy is)

Iv\'e been playing on sickfriend since day one, and I have to say, it had hardcore pretty much nailed down.

Building a fleet of ships, or even just one ship is challengine and requires a good factory system and lots of mining, but is not frustrating. I havn\'t seen any examples of artifical difficulty, and everything is simple and intuitive.

In addition to the necessity of mining and manufacturing (or striking a deal with someone who does one of the two), the AI pirates are well designed and can actually prove diffucult to smaller ships, and can even be a threat to larger ships. Although pirate drops are turned off, you can still get resources of a pirate corpse, and use that to attack and raid players that are mining or in space.

The only problem right now is the lack of the build block for station building, but that will be fixed soon.

The recent bug involving debug error spam has been fixed, hooray.
