1 MB picture limit

    THIS LIMIT IS STUPID!!! I cant put any of my images onto the site, why is this restriction in place, it is beyond idiotic. do a 5MB ban but not 1MB ban, honestly

    Convert them to jpeg, those are most of the time below 1MB, even if you choose 99% quality.

    i have converted them to jpeg and i have resized the image still 1.6 MB

    @blurb357 If these images are for the forums, resizing them to 800 pixels wide (while constraining the proportions) and saving them as a jpeg will be well under 1mb.

    What are you using to resize them currently?

    Alternatively, upload them to Imgur and use the image tags to hotlink them.

    Ok cool.

    Preview is really easy to resize images with. Open the image, press 'Tools" > "Adjust Size". Make sure Scale Proportionately is ticked.
    It will even give you the new file size before the change is made so you can make sure they are under 1mb :)

    The pictures just need to be compressed. Some of the forum posts already take several minutes to load because of all the png screenshots in them.

    Much simpler than compressing every image is to post only a link.
    Upload your Pics to a free image uploader
    for example:
    http://www.imgland.net/
    copy and paste the link in the directlink section
