To make this more useful the spherical damage should be changed to a 30-45 degrees cone of damage, in the direction of computer as usual, this pulse would be a short range system.
When fired it would look like disruption of space and time...

Its a fairly simple idea that could make pulse a viable and interesting weapon within the meta, the main focus of the suggestion is to make pulses useful in combat without incuring the heavy performance loss...
The idea being that you slap some pulse-beams on a point defense turret or something, and potentially get something that can trigger as a backup when missile swarms threaten to overwhelm your defenses otherwise.
Has anyone actually tried this? Or does the pulse shockwave not hit missiles?
