Basically the idea of having tiers of minerals at different depths make little sense if you can just fly around and the physics of a cube world would be super fun :3 That said the disc worlds are also interesting in their own way.

I would suggest having a bunch of connecting point to aid getting around in general. For example i have airlocks along a connecting corridor that connets to two floors and space. Makes it easy to transition between the two floors and freedom to enter/exit in general.
