Personally, I've been taking a break from Starmade because I'm waiting for the weapons update to be finalized. After it hits, I'll whip myself into a building frenzy. Personally I don't mind the slow development time. I've got plenty of other stuff to do while waiting for Starmade to blossom.

Explodey cannons make me very happy. Will be interesting to see how the other weapons will be balanced to account for it.

Ever heard of breaking things down for parts? In any case, there are a lot of community fleets, so it'd be a crapton of work to integrate even a part of them with the scavenger ship designs. Also, it'd look ridiculous, at least if the original colours of the community fleets were kept and you'd...

Personally I like the way scavenger ships look now. 'Scavenged' doesn't necessarily have to mean a hodgepodge of different starships welded together - I much prefer the gray, skeletal, stripped-down 'I built this thing out of scrap metal in my backyard' appearance.

I start with the main systems (power, main weapons), lay some outlines for interiors, and then pretty much build the ship around them. I rarely have a concrete idea what kind of ship I'm going to build when I start, the concept starts shaping up naturally while I progress with the build.

No matter how symmetrical the shape of the ship I am building, it has to have at least a few asymetric details on it. Also, brown advanced armour. Good for everything that is supposed to be brown and most things that aren't supposed to be brown.

How thick will the prow armour be? Asking because I've been thinking how very Imperial it'd be if almost the whole prow were solid advanced armour (save for the torpedo tubes, obviously). ... That'd be, like, nearly a kilometer of solid AA at the thickest point. :love:

A forcefield controller computer that allows you to decide how forcefield blocks behave, including making them non-corporeal so the could be passed through (let everything through, let faction members/entities through, let nothing through, etc.) would be nice for building hangars.
