It's been over a decade of me playing this game so I figured it's overdue for me to make a thread documenting all the builds I've been working on over the years. Some have unfortunately been lost to time and various computer changes, but honestly they usually weren't great. I pretty much exclusively play single player so don't expect any super dominant PVP capable ships, but some (or all?) I'm intending to release as faction packs in the case that NPC factions are ever working properly. Either way I'll probably start releasing them as they're updated to the upcoming balance changes.
The Colonial Union
These are my main ships, mostly inspired by Battlestar Galactica but there's some Macross influence thrown in. Lore wise their name is pretty self descriptive, it's a union of colonists aiming to settle the galaxy. They have a focus on civilian ships with a lot of crew/passenger as well as cargo capacity, along with lots of amenities but they're pretty militaristic, with battlestar inspired ships aimed at deterring competitors and hunting down pirates.

A small, fast ship with decent sized living space as well as cargo capacity and anti gravity tech. This is focused almost entirely on exploration, with the ability to quickly survey a system, before moving onto the next. Not really my original design, the Frontier is a heavily refitted version of the Isanth Zero, remarketed for civilian use. I might replace it with something wholly original one day, but I have a lot of affection for it so who knows.
One man repair ship, with some small (miniscule, even) salvage capacity. Fits nicely into the landing bays of my battlestar designs. It probably needs way more astrotech modules, so it's due for some rethinking on the next refit.
A Quick and dirty build. Built as a shuttle for use in my newer battlestars, it's small, quick and has a passenger capacity of more than 20. The Starbuck also comes with a repair beam (stronger than the Brummies, actually) and cargo space for additional utility.
A light mining ship. Decent cargo capacity and actually quite fast, I use it as an early game salvager for getting my feet off the ground. Also works as a small cargo transport for shopping trips. Originally built as a combat/mining hybrid intended to hunt pirate stations, this became less viable at this scale as the game updated. Also the oldest ship I've built still in service.
A civillian transport ship, also capable as a light cargo freighter. Small, fast and houses dozens of colonists on route to their new homes. The cabins themselves are quite cramped, but there's a fair few amenities including a food court, arcade, sports court, cinema and bar.
The icon of the colonial union, The Celeste is built for a singular purpose: To carry everything needed for settling a new star system, people included. It's fast, spacious and has a ludicrous cargo capacity (2.1 million) for what is honestly not that big a ship. The Celeste features two replaceable habitation pods, each containing a small city filled with apartments, shops, restaurants and other kinds of entertainment to meet the needs of a population who may be living there for a considerable amount of time.
Inspired mostly by the Frontier from Macross, but on a much more condensed scale (only 150ish m in length. And despite its largely decorative nature it's a very functional freighter due to its combination of speed and unhinged cargo space. It is a bit fragile, but with chain jumping it honestly doesn't need to spend much time in hostile territory so it's not the end of the world.
