Couldn\'t you just as easily mount a battery on a turret?

Is it more effective/efficient to use many small guns or one large gun? One cannon block deals 25 damage where 2 gives 36 ( I think) and it scales at roughly that rate with each block. Would it be better or more ideal to use a lot of few-block guns ir a handful of large guns?
