How does the game determine which array the laser will shoot from in a group? Im trying to get the laser to shoot from my longest array. How do I accomplish this?

On my own server, 8,8,8 is a star. It appears empty but I noticed that my ship was half destroyed after I left. Stars will disentegrate your ship, so stay away!
