I really like the idea, I think as a balancing measure and as just a cool idea, you could have gas thrusters. pros: takes no power, much more powerful per thruster, gas is somewhat cheap. Cons: you need to have gas tanks, you have to refuel when you run out, gas thrusters burn gas very quickly...
