That's actually part of the idea of how it works. It's actually got the outline of a Federation Starship, and has 3 shipyards for cargo/ships inside a heavily defended ring. Ideal for use as a moving interstellar tradestation.

Deinstalled McAfee recently, installed Microsoft Security Essentials. Wanted to play StarMade today, MSE threw some window on the screen I couldn't read in time, because the game started up. Game was open and in the spawn menu. I was carefull not to Alt+Tab out because that makes my game crash...
