Well since you mentioned "ftl" you know how overdrive used to be unlimited for speed? it should be exactly like that with some changes to allow it to be put on bigger ships. it should have a 30 to 180 second charge up due to the size of the ship you are using but every ship with a hyperdrive should not be as fast as a ship dedicated to hyperdrive
