Designation: VLD-1 Drathis class light destroyer
Role: Escort, Patrol, Interception, Drone
Manufacture: Verduran Lance (mercenary contract)
The primary purpose of the Drathis class light destroyer is as a cheap escort unit to support larger forces. Built to ‘bulk’ up a fleet with little bulk itself, the Drathis is built around a single overcharged rapid cannon but can also support its allies with a trio of small anti-missile turrets.
The Drathis boasts modest defenses; highly sloped hull plating and regeneration focused shielding allow it to weather smaller strikes. High maneuverability and a low frontal profile gifts the Drathis a very high evasion rating capable of foiling many heavy attacks.
As usual for Verduran Lance hulls a basic decorative interior is present, accessible from a docking port utilizing USD 2.5. The docking port comes with a docking camera for easy use and is compatible with both universal standard and outdated standard docking ports.
The Drathis is outfitted with the basic necessities allotted to pilots of small craft; a basic jump drive and rudimentary sensor jamming. When refitting the Drathis for fleet-controlled drone work these can be uninstalled to save resources.
To facilitate it's use as a drone vessel the Drathis has a ventral rail docker and a rail basic on port and starboard sides.
When manually piloted its speed and low profile open up the roles of heavy fighter and interceptor. The Drathis' low material cost make it a good choice for commanders looking to put new recruits through their first few battles.

Use:
This design works best as drone or fleet support for larger vessels. A wing of four to eight Drathis' supporting a faction's front-line battlecruisers become a major nuisance as their constant fire keeps shielding down and tears gashes through advanced armor. When manually piloted its speed and low profile open up the roles of heavy fighter and interceptor.
