USF Telithra Refit
MASS: 245,917
LENGTH: 455m
HEIGHT: 78m
WIDTH: 187m
POWER: 480m (5,217,818 e/sec)
SHIELDS: 59m (1,699,868 s/sec)
THRUST: 104,979
Following significant upgrades in weapons, shields, armor, and propulsion, it was determined by the Calthrian Federation’s Engineering Branch that the USF Telithra was in dire need of an overhaul. Redesigned entirely, the ship now takes advantage of the newest technology. Side-launched heavy tracking missiles have replaced the wing cannons, and the forward cannons have been redesigned to pierce through even the toughest armor and shields. Beam emitters have been added to assist with direct combat against smaller, more nimble targets.
The turrets throughout the ship were changed to meet with new combat specifications, increasing the firepower of the ship while sacrificing some space for other critical systems. An experimental larger Beam Cannon has been added, along with smaller beam defense platforms. Six heavy missile launcher turrets have been equipped on the bow of the ship.
While the shield strength of the ship has been lowered some, the trade-off has come in the form of increased shield regeneration. Now the Telithra is able to engage in combat for longer periods of time with minimal shield loss.
A new jump drive has been added to allow the Telithra to move quickly across Calthrian space to the front lines. As the Federation currently does not have a Warp Gate large enough to allow the Telithra through, this was a vital addition to the ship.
The only limiting factor to the Telithra’s combat capabilities is its power generation. Slightly less than before, sustained combat over a long period will result in continual drops in power levels. The Engineering Branch has done their best to overcome this fault, but it was determined in the end that it was better to have more shields at the cost of increased power regeneration, as it was deemed easier to retreat and recharge than it was to repair and replace the entire ship.
The hanger was overhauled, reducing the number of fighters carried by the Telithra. Now aboard are 4 Gallin MK2’s, 2 Trelin MK3’s, and 2 of the newest Trelin MK4’s. Both gunboats were removed, and the hanger for the Captain’s shuttle was removed. The shuttle itself is now located at the rear of the ship, between the cannons.
A forcefield and combat alert logic system has been added to the ship, allowing for instant sealing of various areas of the ship during combat to prevent decompression should the hull be breached.
The command bridge was relocated to within the ship’s hull, after being deemed too exposed and vulnerable. Replacing it is a new short-range scanner to help identify immediate threats to the ship.
A second revised edition has also been produced, built with the experimental new Cobalt Shielding technology. While giving the ship an impressive appearance and granting some extra protection to the ship itself, production has been limited as the Cobalt technology appears better suited to smaller craft.
