Today we're open sourcing Decoy Industries power cores.
These cores are designed for efficient power distribution throughout a ship by making it easy to extend the individual groups in any direction needed.
If you've ever had trouble getting a power reactor lines to 'twist' within your ship so that you can extend the dimensions as much as possible, then this pack is for you!
There are 3 cores, plus a shielded example, provided in this pack.
All cores have empty space 'filled' with power capacitors. Power capacity is given a bonus by having larger groups, so this is an efficient way of extending the groups throughout the ship as well.
Templates
decoy-power-4
Four power groups. Generally superseded by decoy-power-5, but can be useful if space is at a premium.
decoy-power-5
Five power groups (seeing a pattern?). This is an efficient grouping, even for smaller ships.
decoy-power-5-shielded_transfer
Same as decoy-power-5 but with a simple hull design and the same layout on each side of the core. This allows for a unified look on outgoing power lines.
Example of simple station utilizing this power scheme:
decoy-power-8+5
For larger ships, this core consists of 8 power groups 'wrapping' a power-5, efficiently distributing 13 power groups. Decoy Industries' Asynchronous Callback is powered by this core. One of these cores can easily reach the 1 mil e/s soft cap.
To use:
1. Unpack the templates to your starmade installation 'templates' folder.
2. From the advanced build screen, Load and choose decoy-power-x.
3. Paste the template on to your ship (be careful you don't have anything in the way!)
4. Extend the power lines any way you need. Remember, you don't have to extend every direction to get a power boost.
Feedback is appreciated. If you use this, find it useful, or have questions then let us know!
