The Platypus class is a medium freighter, and the smallest freighter used by Nova Mining. While classified as "medium," these ships are spartan and uncomfortable, squeezing seven crew members into a tiny interior. Nevertheless, it's good work, and transport runs often attract crewmembers quickly and with ease. While it does have a push pulse defense system, it was spared anti-missile turrets and thick shields for cost reasons - after all, Nova Mining is out here to turn a profit!
As a freighter, it's decent, packing 14 by 3.7k storage modules on its sides. Unfortunately, these are not detachable. It also sports two side-mounted Universal Serial Docks, and often the Platypus Class's dedicated shuttle is mounted on of these. Sometimes, these shuttles are refitted by the crew to add additional living or recreational space.
